Volunteers

The JHSMW welcomes volunteers of all ages and abilities. The following are some of the activities JHSMW volunteers participate in:

  • Research assistance (Internet searching, indexing, etc.)
  • Scanning photographs and documents
  • Compiling attendee list with addresses from event guestbook for future mailings
  • Assisting with the reorganization of the archives (moving and relabeling boxes)
  • Archival data-entry (updating databases)
  • Performing basic preservation tasks (preservation photocopying, placing photos in sleeves, etc.)
  • Maintaining collections (updating biographical and reference files)
  • Serving as liaisons with community groups and organizations to facilitate the proper transfer of records
